The group presentation on the explore phase did a really nice job of focusing students on the properties of air. Students were asked to determine what was in a mystery bag that was really “empty.”
At another station students predicted and explored what happened when you removed the air from a plastic bag and tried to smash the potato chips.
The final station had students test what would happen to a paper towel when placed inside a cup and pushed upside down in a bowl of water.
I really liked how this was a very visual way in which to get students thinking about the properties of air.
